1st Birthday Girl – Using love Blossoms Paper Stack

I’ve been wanting to scrapbook this photo for a very long time now (she is now 7!) and when this paper stack came along I knew it would be perfect. I can’t take credit for capturing this photo – it was taken by my very good friend’s husband at Katie’s 1st birthday party. I was probably milling around keeping things going, so I’m really grateful he took my camera and got some great shots of the day.  This photo has got to be one of my favourites.

Getting Started

The first thing I did, before even printing the photo, was to convert it to black and white. I then printed it out with a white border using my home printer. The photo was then mounted onto some crumb cake cardstock and then distressed with soft suede ink and a sponge.

This layout has three clusters and after working out where to put them I used the stamps from timeless textures to make some splatters and cup rings. I then cut my paper into little strips and snipped banners on one side. Again, using ink and a sponge, I distressed the edges.

For my titles and wording I decided to stamp and gold emboss with my heat tool. I used the number 1 from the Number of Years set and die cut it out with the co-coordinating die set. Now all I had to do was lay out all my papers and stick them down, stick down the photo and play around with the wording placement. Once happy with it, I stuck everything down.

Finishing Touches

To finish off the layout I stamped a flower and some leaves and trimmed those out. This will work for any flowers you stamp. I then scattered some sequins and stuck those down too.

Pretty petals paper stack will be retiring on the 31st May so this is your last chance to get your hands on it. If you haven’t already, pop over to my online shop to browse the retiring items from the current annual catalogue. There are loads of reduced products that will be soon be discontinued and are selling out fast. Click on the image below to go there.
