Vintage Wedding Scrapbook Page | Without ‘heritage’ colours

We’ve all seen vintage photos in black & white and sepia, scrapbooked with similar colours to give it that ‘heritage’ look. As nice as this looks, wouldn’t it be a beautiful thing to bring some life back into the page and the photograph?

After all, in front of the camera, whatever the occasion may be… life was happening in full colour – clothes, landscapes, even flowers. So, wouldn’t it be lovely to bring some of this back to life in your vintage scrapbook layouts?

My husband inherited some vintage photos from his Nanny a few years ago and I instantly fell in love with them. They tell a beautiful, happy love story from marriage, babies, holidays and the children growing up and having children of their own (and those children having children!). All of these photographs represent important memories and many of the early ones are in black & white.

So for this page, I have decided to move away from using the traditional heritage colours of creams and browns and add a little colour. This photo is from their wedding day, so a day full of happiness, excitement and colour. Unfortunately, do not know the colours from that day – they may not have had a colour scheme that we have nowadays. If you find yourself in this situation and have someone to ask, please do and reflect this onto your page.

I have used the Wildflower collection from Kaisercraft along with the coordinating die cut pack. I have distressed the edges, added some brown ink and sewn around the borders to give it a vintage look (but only a hint). The colours are light and pretty but also match that muted feel as well. This layout would look wonderful framed and on display.

So, next time you are faced with a vintage photograph, why not add some life back into it?
