For today’s post I have made a 4″x 4″ card with a beautiful watercoloured rose image.
This has to be my favourite stamp set from the Occasions catalogue. In fact, this was the first thing that went onto my wish list!
The Background
I wanted to create a subtle background for the rose to rest on and I wanted to keep in with the watercolour theme. To make the blue smudge in the centre I used the swipe style stamp from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar set. I also made some other variations of the background using other stamps from the Birthday Blooms set.
Watercolouring
Watercolouring onto your stamped images is so easy to do using just our ink pads. Simply give the pad a squeeze when it’s closed and this will press the ink onto the inside of the lid. Once you have opened the pad you have your own pallet and colour ready to be used with a paintbrush or Aqua Painter. I have used Shimmery White cardstock to stamp my images on as this is a perfect base for watercolouring. It also gives your work a slight shimmer too 🙂
Make sure you stamp your flower with a non water soluble ink like Black Archival Ink (listed below). This will ensure your image doesn’t smudge when you add water.
I have attached the image with dimensionals to give it a raised effect.
Here is one of the finished cards! You can easily and quickly make up a small batch of these cards ready to be used when you need them.
